Meet the coaches

Ray McGloin

Ray has a wealth of coaching experience going as far back as 1978 when he was the fitness coach, while training to become a teacher, for the football, rugby, judo and netball teams. His specialised focus of PE research was tailoring fitness training to the different sporting demands.

Ray has competed in seven Ironman events, twenty half Ironman events, over fifty olympic and sprint distance events. He has also competed in countless 10 km, half and full marathons, as well as ultra-distance swimming, running and cycling events.

Ray is a qualified Level 3 Tri-England coach and has been coaching the three disciplines of triathlon for over ten years. He's the coach and consultant for David Lloyd Bolton. Since founding Tri-Rivington UK he has successfully coached and prepared over three hundred athletes for triathlon events, including over a hundred and forty for Ironman events in the UK and abroad. He has also coached and supported members to successfully qualify for GB age group places around Europe.

Dean Ramsden

Dean has a wealth of experience in training groups and individuals of all ages and ability. Before triathlon Dean reached his 2nd Dan in Karate which really helps today with his fitness and never give up attitude.

Dean has completed six full Ironman events, over a dozen half Ironman distance events and countless olympic and sprint distance events in the UK and abroad.

Dean is a current GB Age Grouper and continues to compete at a high level in triathlon and duathlon events, as well as being a coach with Tri-Rivington.

Dean coaches to educate athletes in the best way he can. He coaches triathlon because he has a love for the sport. He feels that it is important for him to be highly skilled in his field, so as to be the best coach he can be. His focus is to coach athletes in such a way as to build confidence and prepare them for events and for race days.

Steven Haslam

Steve has been a member of Tri-Rivington for over four years and has been a valued member looking out for fellow members. Recently, he took the plunge and began his Level 2 Triathlon coaching course which he is now putting into full practice after qualifying.

Steven has competed in four Ironman events in the UK and Europe, numerous middle distance,Olympic, sprint triathlons and duathlons in the UK and abroad, as well as countless 10 km, half and full marathons in the UK and Europe.
